    Wow!
I found your site while searching google for prehistoric huntin parties. I am most impressed and plan to be a visitor/customer ofen. The image of a hunting party is to be used as a dook cover now in progress. Your site has opened a whole arena of potential figures. Thank you.

      Hi Steven,

I’m afraid that I can’t help you as I’m not a retailer. This page is intended as a reference only. You can follow the links above to the web sites of the manufacturers and in most cases order directly from them.

    Firstly I like your website

Question _ The DZ Miniatures that are now supposedly being put out Strategem and I would love to get hold of mammoths, woolly rhinos, sabre tooth etc. – I could not locate a Strategem web site so I got onto the Wargames illstraed website, where they have a DZ Miniatures category listed, but when I click on it nothing happens, so I sent them an e-mail and it was rejected as undeliverable. – Any tips as to how and or where I can buy some of these critters.
I have also posted under your 10mm and 15mm sections, a couple of additions you may like to list.
    Regards
    Pete

    • Steve Pugh says:

Hi Pete, thanks for your comments, they’re going to be very useful in keeping these lists up to date.

As for getting some DZ Miniatures from Stratagem/Wargames Illustrated, they have a reputation for being somewhat disorganised so I’m not very surprised about their web site shortcomings. I’ve been able to buy minis from their stand at UK shows – SELWG and Salute in my case – but that’s not much help for everyone.

      • Gavin Greig says:

        Hi Steve,

I managed to place an order today for DZ Miniatures stuff from here:

        http://www.wargamesillustrated.net/Shop.php?type=dz

so maybe they have finally got their act together enough to be worth adding the link. (Maybe I should wait until the figures turn up though…)

        • Steve Pugh says:

Indeed. As well as getting the web site sorted they had a few more on sale at salute today. They had all four rhinos and all three bears in metal (old stock from DZ or have they switched away from resin?) Plus, the sabre tooth (metal) and the Platybelodon (resin). I bought one each of the last two.

  6. Andrew Maxfield says:

Great list and really useful. I came to it via the Cavewars group which I have just joined. The only omission I think I can see on a first quick look is that you have not included the Aurochs from Excalibur in Germany. You have to ditch the rider but the beast itself is impressive. I look forward to using your list in the very near future.

    Regards, Andrew

  7. Hello !

I was wandering if you knew of any 28mm (or any really, I can convert) ruleset in which you play the dinosaurs as opposed to the hunters ?

    Thanks,

    Craig

    • Steve Pugh says:

      Craig,

I can’t think of any rules designed for 28mm but Try-to-survive-asaurus from QRF and DinoMight from Magister Militum are designed for hot dino-on-dino action at 15mm and 10mm respectively.

      Steve

  8. Terry Williams says:

Very comprehensive, would you post some photos as time permits. Thank you.

  9. Stu says:

    Hi,

I’m trying to combine my love of dinosaurs with a game of blood bowl. Your is the best site I’ve found for info but many of the sites have moved on it seems and its non trivial to find a good raptor.

Basically I’m looking for 15-28mm Raptors. I need a dozen small raptors or small fast lizards(skink). 4 Bigger than human chunky dinosaurs(saurus). Lastly a bigger saur(krox).

For reference I love the ‘seeker of slannesh’ model and I’m looking for that kind of poise and ‘speed’ in the model, but to be honest variety would be good too 🙂

Given your knowledge of the range, I’d appreciate your suggestions. Thanks for reading 🙂
    Stu.

    • Steve Pugh says:

      Hi Stu,

For the Skinks, I’d recommeend the Ral Partha Europe Velociraptors. They have nice big open hands so make good catchers or could be converted to carry a ball.

For the Saurs, Copplestone Castings’ Deinonychuses.

For the Krox, Copplestone Castings’ Nanotyrannus or Assassin Miniatures’ Saurus.

All of the above are currently listed as on sale on the respective web sites.

  10. Paul says:

I’m rather interested in the Baker Company Mammoth but at the same time a little confused – overall it looks very nice but from the pictures on their site it looks almost as though it doesn’t have any ears! Can anyone verify this?

    • Steve Pugh says:

Just double checked with my copy and you’re right, there are no visible ears.

Now, we know that mammoths, especially the woolly species, had smaller ears than modern elephants but they definitely had external ears so this a mistake on Baker Co’s part.

That plus the very large size (50% taller than the DZ mammoths) explains why the Baker Co web site lists the “mammoth” under Fantasy. 😉

If you’re looking for a mammoth I would buy a DZ one from North Star or wait for Primaeval to release one.

    Hello Steve:

2hourwargames here in the US publishes a set of rules, Adventures in the Lost Lands. It can be played solo with a possible enemy forces PEF reaction system or with players on both sides. If you play it by the total generating system you will need many various critters.

    Hi
Do you have two diprotodons, a chalicotherium and a daeodon from MegaMiniatures to sell?
Or maybe do you know where I can find these since the company ended?
    Thanks a lot!
