You can download several of James Dixon's useful files about Star Trek here. His famous (or is that infamous?) Chronology is several times the length of the official one produced by the Okudas and contains information from thirty years of fandom sources as well as novels, games and the animated series as well as canon sources.
Bernd Schneider's site has an impressively large amount of starship content. His analysis of various barely glimpsed ships is worth reading, you may not agree with all his conclusions but the work that's been put in is worthy of praise.
